If you’re interested in making meditation accessories, this Andrea Schewe pattern has a slew to chose from. The items I made are a little different, but this pattern has instructions for what looks like a fairly traditional zafu, as well as a wedge-shaped cushion like ones I saw at my meditation class, and a zabuton.
Suggested fillings for the zafu are poly fiberfill and buckwheat hulls; traditional is kapok, which would probably be horrible to work with, but nicest of all to sit on. If you want to experiment with various cushions or bolsters, this pattern could save you a lot of time, and let you get to mindfullness with minimal fuss.
Simplicity are on sale for 99 cents this weekend (March 28-30, 2008) at Joann’s (at least out eastward, where I am); I picked this one up just in case.
I have also been looking everywhere for this pattern with no luck, I did find a website that had the back of the pattern available so I printed it not that I am able to do much with that but it was the only thing I could find… I have wanted to make a Yoga Bolster for my own practice and when I saw that Simplicity had one I was so excited …but in the end just disappointed because it is out of circulation… I can’t believe that no one out here in web land has this pattern. Sharon, I ‘m afraid I have no clue where to find this pattern now. (I can’t even find my copy!) Do try searching for it using quotes (like this: “Simplicity 3583”), and you may turn it up on a pattern re-sale site, or on eBay. I’m sure it’s for sale somewhere.
I would also love to find this pattern. Does anyone have it to share/sell?

I have been searching High and Low for this pattern. Simplicity has taken it out of print. I have been searching the internet for days for a copy. I even tried a place in London who, turns out, does not have it after all, and wouldn’t ship to the USA anyway.
So, at this point I am writing all links I find with this pattern and am hoping someone might make a copy of the pattern for me. I can send the graph fabric and pay for all shipping fees as well as compensation for the persons hard work of copying.
